Sony is a well-known name in audio and video products, and its range of soundbars is no exception. Among these products, the Sony HT-S2000 stands out as a mid-range model focused on sound immersion thanks to support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X streams. Sold at a relatively affordable price of 399 euros (originally 499 euros), the HT-S2000 is positioned between models with subwoofer and independent references such as the Sonos Beam Gen 2. With its compact, sober design, this 80 cm-long soundbar can be discreetly placed under any screen, especially 55″ or 65″ ones. The HT-S2000 stands out for its classic polymer chassis with a front panel covered by a metal grille. Well-assembled and weighing 3.7 kg, it guarantees solidity and durability. Although it is delivered without subwoofer or satellite speakers, optional modules such as the HT-SW3 and HT-SW5 subwoofers, as well as the SA-RS3S satellite speakers, can be added. However, unlike some competitors, the HT-S2000 is not compatible with Airplay 2 or Chromecast environments, nor with streaming services. It does, however, offer Bluetooth connectivity for use with a smartphone. With a single HDMI-eARC socket and an optical input, it offers limited connectivity, but sufficient for everyday use. Operating the HT-S2000 is simple, thanks to the supplied remote control and the dedicated Home Entertainment app. The app allows access to more advanced settings and management of optional modules. However, the listening experience is somewhat disappointing when it comes to sound immersion. Despite support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, vertical effect is virtually non-existent and surround effect is limited. In terms of audio quality, the HT-S2000 offers balanced, controlled sound, but lacks bass energy. Highs are pleasant, but lack extension. Despite this, it remains a satisfactory, but not spectacular, musical soundbar. The Sony HT-S2000 is a mid-range soundbar that offers a satisfying audio experience. Its compact, sober design and compatibility with optional modules make it a good base for a more immersive audio system. However, it struggles to stand out in a market already saturated with similar, higher-performance products. There are more convincing alternatives at similar prices. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1RmnA9RMxA
