The French face the evolution of working conditions over the last 20 years
On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the famous social network LinkedIn recently conducted an interesting study with 2,000 French people on the major changes in the world of work that they have observed over the last 20 years. According to the results of this study, it appears that the world of work has been profoundly modified since 2000, influencing in particular the way we project ourselves in our career.
Indeed, 56% of respondents say that it is now easier to change careers completely. The rise of telecommuting is also highlighted by one in three respondents, while one in four mentions a relaxation of professional codes at work (dress code, language, etc.). On the other hand, more than a third of the respondents think that it is easier to find a job today than 20 years ago. However, this period of change also has a negative effect, as 61% of French respondents feel that the world of work has become much more complex than it was 20 years ago and that it is now increasingly difficult to maintain a good work-life balance.
A series of episodes to understand how the world of work has changed in 20 years
On May 5, 2023, the Institut National de l’Audiovisuel and LinkedIn will celebrate LinkedIn’s anniversary with a series of episodes that will allow French people to rediscover the main changes in the world of work in France over the past 20 years.
The archives that INA has brought to the surface will speak to all generations. The beginnings of teleworkers, the new jobs linked to the technological boom, the importance of training and professional reconversions. All of these topics have revolutionized the world of work over the past 20 years and are brought to life in episodes to be discovered on INA’s Facebook and Instagram accounts and LinkedIn.
LinkedIn has also invited its 26 million French members to take part in the conversation on the platform around the hashtag #cetaitya20years, to exchange on the major changes they may have experienced in the last 20 years. The youngest members will be able to talk about their experiences and the oldest members will recount their early years with nostalgia.
Fabienne Arata, Country Manager of LinkedIn France, said that these 20 years have seen the world of work go through profound changes, one of these changes being the rise of telecommuting. LinkedIn has been part of these changes by accompanying individuals and companies at every step.
Linkedin, the place to be for professional exchanges for 20 years
LinkedIn reveals that since its inception in 2003, the professional network has become a vibrant community where more than 930 million workers and professionals worldwide connect to find new opportunities. In France, for example, the platform has 26 million users.
Technological advances and changes in the world of work have inevitably contributed to the rise of telecommuting and changes in professional codes. LinkedIn has been both an actor and a witness to this change, and has set itself the mission of helping professionals and companies in their development.
The platform makes it easy for millions of people around the world to develop their skills and find new professional opportunities, and September marks a significant milestone in LinkedIn’s 20-year history.
